Write the Book

I always felt that my dream was to write a book. I read a review once of a science fiction book. And while that is not a genre that I enjoy at all, what the reviewer had written has stayed with me ever since. They wrote ‘[the author] has re-wired science fiction. Everything is different now.’ And I knew when I read it, that I wanted to do something like that. Something so creative, so unique that it stands completely on its own. It’s hard to even write that, because that dream seems so completely unlikely and unrealistic.

The Reach

I was watching Julie & Julia tonight. A rare treat to watch a movie, alone and undisturbed. Which makes me sound like a social recluse, which I’m not. NaNoWriMo – Update

So the wordcount hasn’t been going quite as well as I would have liked but I’m still on track if I can knock over another 1,000 words tonight.

NaNoWriMo or Mission Impossible?

I’ve done it. I’ve committed to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

For the uninitiated this means that I will be attempting to write an entire novel in November (50,000 words / 175 pages).
I’ve done the math. This is 1,667 words per day or 100 words for every waking hour of November. Needless to say quality will be sacrificed for volume. I can only hope that Riley and her teeth allow me at least some time in the evening otherwise I’ll be seriously screwed.
