NaNoWriMo – Update

So the wordcount hasn’t been going quite as well as I would have liked but I’m still on track if I can knock over another 1,000 words tonight.
But thought I’d update a bit on where we’ve gotten to so far:

Somewhat hurriedly, she made her way back up the stairs. She wondered at what point her life had become a miriad of tiny deceptions. She went into the bathroom to wash her face. She liked the tingling of the cleanser and the sting of the toner as if it was stripping …

Day Two – Obstacles

The first day of NaNoWriMo went so well, but it was the weekend, so I was pretty sure everything was downhill from there.
Day Two – up at 4:45am. In the car by 5:30am. At work by 7:45am. Home by 7:15pm. Comforting a toddler in teething agony 7:30 – 10:00pm. Somehow I don’t really feel up for 1,600 words. NaNoWriMo – The Beginning

“There is sand everywhere”, her boyfriend said, lifting his feet up with disgust as he came through the door.
She knew he was talking to her even if she was upstairs.

“I didn’t get around to it.” she …

Bad Perfectionism. Bad!

Tomorrow NaNoWriMo officially begins and I have to write approximately 1,667 words every day to reach my goal of a novel by the end of the month. If I still had the remnants of a perfectionist in me, she will most definitely be curled up in the corner, in the fetal position, rocking back and forth by the end of it.
I have avoided doing any background work for the novel as well. Here’s my theory for this (see if you buy into it):
1) If I do background work it just …

NaNoWriMo or Mission Impossible?

I’ve done it. I’ve committed to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

For the uninitiated this means that I will be attempting to write an entire novel in November (50,000 words / 175 pages).
I’ve done the math. This is 1,667 words per day or 100 words for every waking hour of November. Needless to say quality will be sacrificed for volume. I can only hope that Riley and her teeth allow me at least some time in the evening otherwise I’ll be seriously screwed.
I also don’t have a solid idea for a …
