34/365 The Blogiversary Edition

This was one of the photos I posted on my first ever post.
Look at that glorious belly and those pudgy arms. It was also one of the first times she went to sleep on her own, mid lunch no less. In some ways she’s so much of a baby in this photo that I hardly recognise her, but in others I still see that little baby face when I look at her now.
We’ve come a long way, her and I. A very long way. And every age is still my …

Moments in Time

This blog post was sponsored by Kidspot’s Baby Club. It’s a lovely space for mums and mums-to-be to get together, chat, share, relate and even win some goodies. The best thing is that you can visit at any time of day or night, and if you haven’t had time to shower or do your hair, no one will notice (and there’s a pretty good chance no one else has either). Pop over now and register. Connect with other mums today.

I’ve taken so many photos of Riley that I only …

07/365 – Two Years Ago

In honour of my upcoming posts for the Kidspot Baby Club – I thought I’d share a baby photo.
This is two years ago. It’s funny how time is. In some ways it seems like it was yesterday. In other ways it feels like it’s been a lot longer than two years. Probably something to do with how quickly they change.
I used to scoff at people who took heaps of photos. Yes, me, the compulsive photographer. I said that if you had to take a photo to remember it then it …

Turning Two – Parties, Chocolate and Bubbles

The birthday girl. There’s something magical about the second birthday. She’s still too young to understand the concept of the birthday. So she wakes up on what to her is any other day and is greeted with balloons, bubbles, presents, more chocolate cake than she could eat and lots of adoring visitors. Its innate randomness just adds to her joy in it.

She was shown the kitchen as soon as she woke up. Or to be more accurate as soon as she slapped us awake and told us to get out …

Last Day of One

Today was my baby’s last day of being one.
Last year I didn’t really take the time to appreciate her birthday as a milestone. Maybe because I was partially comatose from sleep deprivation and in part because we were so busy planning a big bash. This year, the party is a lot smaller, and I am more keenly aware of how fast she’s growing up.
It seems fitting tonight, that unlike every other night she wanted to sleep in our bed (just for old times sake?) and she now lies next to …

Nearly Two

Somebody has a birthday coming up. I can hardly believe that my beautiful little baby is going to be 2. Two.Two whole years. 24 months. I guess I have to stop keeping track of her age in months now.
It’s hard to believe that the walking and talking toddler was once this tiny little baby:

It’s hard to believe that the little person who doesn’t ever actually walk but runs everywhere, once upon couldn’t get around on her own. That even once she had learned how to roll on to her stomach, …

My Birth Story

I’ve written about Riley’s birth in bits and pieces but never really told the whole story from beginning to end. And as this is my 300th post, it seemed like I good idea.

I was overdue. I hadn’t had any contractions or braxton hicks contractions for that matter, or so I thought. I felt as big as a house. Every now and then I’d have mind-numbing shooting pains run down my leg and my knees would buckle with it. I couldn’t sleep because I was that huge and my hips were …

Guest Post: Growing Up Is Hard to Do

This is the first guest post on Good Goog, and it comes from Amber @ The Unlikely Mama. You can follow her on twitter here. Be warned, photos of her gorgeous daughter, Alexa, are a wee bit addictive. Proceed with caution. Amber has a generous spirit, an old soul and a wicked sense of humour (is there any other kind?) so give her a warm welcome!

Whoever says being a baby is easy is crazy.  Put yourself in your child’s shoes, or well, booties   Babies are like tiny refuges …
