Riley is definitely feeling more herself again. Slept through last night – ah sweet slumber how I’ve missed you.
Today was Mothers’ Group. Her sharing skills take a nose-dive when we’re at home and it’s all of HER stuff that requires sharing. I have three rocker-type toys: The snail, the wooden rocker and a bouncing zebra. You would think that would be plenty for four children. But that would be assuming that they all don’t want to be on exactly the same one at any given time. Rookie mistake.
But she did pretty well taking turns and there was no actual tantrums. But there was a lot of negotiation on my part. I could totally rock a UN position now.
But the cutest thing of the day? A friend of hers who is a real hugger came up to Riley to give her a hug. Now normally, with kids her own age, the whole hugging thing kind of freaks Riley out. Her go to moves are either running away or kind of standing their cringing. But not today. Her little friend came up to her and they both hugged one another for quite awhile. When the hug was over, Riley stood looking at this little girl and then said “Mo” (toddler translation: ‘more’) and they hugged again. She even tucked her little head on to her friend’s shoulder for ultimate snuggles.
I could have cried it was that cute. Meanwhile, the friend’s mother (poor thing) was vigilantly watching to make sure that her daughter didn’t bite Riley in the process (a recent phenomenon). Toddlers. Even hugging can be a contact sport.
