I was having a lazy parent day today. See? Couldn’t even be bothered to get her dressed!
Actually no, that wasn’t the basis of my laziness – it was nap time. Often I get it a little bit easy at nap time and she falls asleep in her chair after/during lunch. No such luck today and instead of being very ready for sleep at 12:30 she was bouncing off the walls. I could come up with all sorts of reasons why I didn’t want to do the whole sleep rigmarole today. And yes it is a rigmarole. I put her to bed, she charges out. Repeat. Repeat. REPEAT. And the longer it goes on the more worked up she gets. I couldn’t be bothered today. Could not be bothered. As I said lazy parent day.
So I gave her an extra bottle thinking that she would surely go to sleep on the couch with that. The maniacal giggles from the lounge room indicated otherwise. Then the fun began – 1 and a half hours of picking up, putting down, patting her in her bed, even rocking her and still no cigar! This is where the true laziness will begin to shine – not wanting to give up on her having a nap entirely – I gave her another bottle and finally she went to sleep. Admittedly at that stage it was 2:30 – she slept until after 5 and so it was about 9pm before she was tired enough to go to sleep in the evening. Don’t care – I embrace the lazy because that period of me time during the day was completely worth it.
I feel for My Baby Drama but truth be told she is way way ahead of me with only having a bottle at night with 13 month olds! I’m bracing myself to start bottle weaning Riley but I think I’ll wait until her molars have pushed through and while they are doing that sense a few more lazy days in my future – although I should do as @mybottlesup and just bite the bullet and push through anyway. But I digress – this is all about me wallowing in my own laziness – there are no shoulds in a day of lazy!
And I haven’t even gone into the TV – both a blessing and a curse but definitely a bad habit that I got into after Riley got back from hospital and didn’t have the strength to move. I want to start weaning her off that too because she is far too transfixed by TV for my liking. But at least Sesame Street will keep her busy so I can have a shower. See?! Lazy!
